Vegan MoFo Post #3

I finally managed to build a light box.  I have only had the list of necessary supplies in my iPhone since April.  I went to Home Depot yesterday and purchased everything necessary.  Now I just need to learn to use it.  I did some tests and here is how they turned out.

So I want to thank VeganMoFo for giving me the drive to get this done.

Today I managed to get a bunch of other things done.  I finally went to the restaurant supply store and bought new mixing bowls.  I will take photos of those in action tomorrow.  And I went to Penzey's for spices.  I had never been there before and after hearing KniftyRed and Knitterary rave about it I decided it was about time.  It was so much fun.  I had a shopping basket full of stuff.  I had to scold myself and put some of it back.  I mean now that I know exactly how to get there I can always come back.

I have been wanting to try to make Indian food.  I needed everything.  I was even out of cumin and bay leaves, and I did not think that ever happens to anyone.  Here is my haul.

Pumpkin Pie Spice, Pickling Spice, Smoked Paprika, Coriander, Turmeric, Cumin, Garam Marsala
Cardamom, Sweet Curry, and Fenugreek

Bay Leaves, Italian Dressing Mix, Pickling Spice

Sadly I did not think to use the new light box to take these photos.  I had so much fun at Penzeys.  Then I was on the way home and there was a Trader Joe's so I got some random bits.  Including some tempeh.  Which I am determined to cook before the expiration date this time.

  2. god help me if I ever step foot in a Penzeys. I already have SO MANY obscure spices. It's a bit of a problem. Last year, for mofo, I did 30 days of different spices... and still there's tons left over. :) Also, where did you find instructions for building a lightbox? I think I'd like to try that.

  3. Sorry it took so long to respond. I had surgery on Monday and am just now coming out of the fog. I got the recipe for the light box from Oh She Glows. http://ohsheglows.com/2011/01/26/how-to-make-a-light-box/
    It was really easy.
